Sundai Lynn Van Epps age 40, of Old Saybrook passed away suddenly on Dec 3. Sundai was born in New London on September 4, 1971, and graduated Old Saybrook High School class of 1990. After High School Sundai relocated to Hartford where she attended business school. She operated a successful commercial cleaning company for years. After returning to the shoreline she worked at Defender in Waterford and excelled as a sales associate. Sundai was the light of the lives of all who knew her. She had an astounding presence, wit, and sense of humor. Sundai had a singing voice that brought joy. In high school she had a roll in South Pacific as Bloody Mary and as usual she stole the show. In photographs she captured generations young and old she left a photo journal of her family, so we will never forget the happy days we spent together with her. Every summer Sundai would spend time with her family in York Beach Maine. Living in Old Saybrook Sundai enjoyed boating on the river and many trips across the sound. Perhaps her biggest accomplishment was her last 16 months of sobriety. Sundai will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She is survived by her loving mother Donna Van Epps, her loving sister Shannon Van Epps, her very special grandmother Joan Van Epps all of Old Saybrook. Sundai also leaves Aunt Debbie Van Epps of East Haddam, Uncle John Champion of Old Saybrook, nieces Summer Star Pichardo of Old Saybrook, Allie Champion of Chester, Autumn, Ivy, and Shay Fisher of Middlefield, her devoted cousins Donald Champion of Ivoryton, Angel Champion of Niantic, Amber Champion Fisher of Middlefield, Christopher O'Neal of Essex, a Great Aunt Betty Schultz of Old Saybrook, and countless others who will never stop loving and missing her. Sundai was predeceased by her grandfather Donald Van Epps, her aunt Bonnie Champion and by her brother Skye Reece Van Epps who she loved deeply and so dearly missed.
Memorial services will be held Thursday December 8, at 2pm at First Church of Christ Congregational Old Saybrook. INTERNMENT WILL BE PRIVATE. For online tributes and condolences please visit www.swanfuneralhomeoldsaybrook.com.
