

OLD TOWN—Barbara Ann Monroe, 66, died March 20, 2022 at a Bangor hospital. She was born March 13, 1956 in Bangor a daughter of Barbara Ann Buxton and Rene Paul Monroe.
Barbara was a strong willed woman who worked as a bartender most of her life, as well as many years as a carnival worker for Smokey’s Greatest Shows during the summer. She will be fondly remembered by her various nicknames “Moosey”, “Bigmouthed Barbara”, “NannyGoat”, “Nanny”, “Grammie” and “GG”. She loved her birds, having 12 parakeets, and pet rats. Was an avid Walmart Shopper. She loved watching TV especially the Golden Girls and NCIS and playing games on her tablet notably Subway Surfer. She had special connections with her family and many remember her asking for someone to get her mail, or get her a soup and sandwich from Harvest Moon Deli, she always had to have eggs, and was spunky and full of life.
She is survived by her daughter Amanda Staddon and her husband Tim; grandchildren Taylor Grimes, Bret Monroe and his wife Luvie, Jonathan Mock, Keira Hall, Tyrell Monroe, AJ Monroe, Callie Monroe, and Brady; two great grandchildren Haydain Kayl Monroe and Dante Anthony Monroe; four siblings Rene Morneault and his wife Valerie, Beverly St. Louis, Billy Monroe and his wife Lisa, and Paul Monroe; cousin and best friend Barbara Finley and her husband Kirk; and close friends Shirley LeVasseur and Timmy the cake guy.
She was predeceased by her parents, son Anthony Monroe Sr., and siblings Richard Buxton, Jack Monroe, Tina Monroe, nephews John Monroe
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10AM Monday March 28, 2022 at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church, Old Town. Immediately following the funeral mass all are invited to the Parish Hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
