On November 24, 2021, Blanche M. Oakes, 91, passed away at Woodlands Senior Living Center in Brewer. She was born in Old Town, September 10, 1930 to George Henry Randall and Bella Mae (Peters) Randall.
After achieving an 8th grade education, Blanche went to work on the family farm. At 18, she started working at the Townhouse Restaurant where she met her future husband, Frank. Later, Blanche also spent many years at the shoe factory as a stitcher.
Blanche is survived by her children, Peter Oakes, Pamela Spencer, Paula Collins and her husband, Andrew, Penny Smart and her husband, Michael; siblings, William Randall, Earl Randall, Cora Young, Nancy Michaud, Ray Willette, and Ben Gallant; grandchildren, Travis, Tina, Corey, Jonathan, Trisha, Veronica, and Scott; as well as 9 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Blanche is predeceased by her husband, Franklyn W. Oakes; daughter-in-law, Rae Ann; stepmother, Rosella; and siblings, George, Jr., Gene, Frances, Wilfred, Beryl, Elaine, Faye and Franklin.
Family and friends are invited to share in conversation and refreshments 1-3pm, Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St. Old Town, ME. An interment in the spring will be private for the family.
