

OLD TOWN - David G. Goodie, 61, passed away Sept. 15, 2010, surrounded by family and friends. He was born Nov. 27, 1948, in Old Town, son of Joseph and Elaine (Hamilton) Goodie. He graduated from Old Town High School in 1968 and enlisted in the U.S. Army, spending 13 months in Korea. After leaving the Army, he came back to Maine to work in the paper mills, retiring after 26 years at the Old Town mill. He was a big fan of NASCAR and rarely missed a race. In his free time he and his wife would travel throughout the state of Maine, especially along the coast. They also loved to go to the Windsor Fair with friends and family. His greatest love was tracing his family tree, of which he and and his wife spent many years working on. They traveled throughout the Maritimes in search of family documents and gravesites. David is survived by his parents, Joe and Elaine of Kissimmee Fla.; his loving wife of 35 years, Sue (Day) Goodie; daughter, Amy and her husband, Michael Cota, of Old Town; son, Matt and his wife, Jodi, of Vassalboro; special granddaughter, Patricia Hasson and special grandson, Drake Goodie, both of Vassalboro; and four brothers, James and his wife, Diane, of Hudson, N.H., Joe and his wife, Penny, of Glenburn, Larry and his wife, Laurie, of Old Town, and Tom and his wife, Anne, of Hudson. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews; as well as by his close aunt and uncle, Carolyn and Bob Scott; and friends, Steve and Brenda Martell, and their son, Adam. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town.
