OLD TOWN - Dorothy Patricia (Smith) Haverlock, 87, passed peacefully at home on January 2, 2021, exactly where she wanted to be, surrounded by her loving children. She was born on June 24, 1933 in Old Town, the daughter of Manley H and Thelma P. (Haskell) Smith.
Dorothy graduated from Old Town High School with aspirations of becoming a nurse, and briefly attended nursing school before meeting the love of her life, James C Haverlock, Jr, and starting a family. Blessed with six beautiful children her life quickly became blissfully full, and every day was about caring for them. Gatherings at the Haverlock's were always joyous occasions where Dorothy, being an amazing cook, would prepare huge feasts where all family and friends were welcome. She always made holidays and birthdays extra special with her flair for decorating and attention to details - another way of expressing her love for her family. Dorothy was a strong woman who although widowed at the age of 55, persevered for her children, devoting her life to them which became her greatest source of joy. She had a sharp mind and a spectacular memory that always amazed her family, sharing stories all the way back to her early childhood in great detail. Special memories of playing cards with a boss of Pepsi and fudge, times spent at the family camps at West Lake and Cold Stream, shopping trips with the girls, were just a few of the stories she loved to share and laugh about.
She is survived by her six children, Bonnie Doiron and husband Dick of Glenburn, Rick Haverlock of Lake Mary, FL, Debbie Eastman and husband Rodney of Greenbush, Mark Haverlock and wife Bethany of Enfield, Jill Rand and husband Randy of Old Orchard Beach, Mike Haverlock and significant other Dawn Closson of Milford, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, brother-in-law Merle Campbell, brother-in-law Edward Haverlock and wife Irene, sister-in-law Mary Smith, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband James C. Haverlock Jr in 1988, brother Manley Smith, sisters Joan Burgoyne and Janet Campbell and daughter-in-law Janet Haverlock.
Private burial will be in the spring at the Cardville Cemetery.
