

Indian Island—Frank V. Loring Sr., 87, died peacefully February 2, 2018 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born in Southwest Harbor August 23, 1930 in George and Hazel (Curtis) Loring.
Frank was a proud Marine having served during the Korean War and was extremely proud to wear his uniform again and serve as the 2016 Old Town Memorial Day Parade Grand Marshall. Following the service, he was employed at Old Town canoe, served as a constable, and for over 25 years served as a Game Warden for the Penobscot Nation. He will be remembered for his amazing carvings. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, and spending time at camp. He was a life member of the American Legion and VFW and served as past post commander for the VFW. He always enjoyed visiting with friends at the Legion and VFW and tell war stories. He volunteered around the Penobscot Nation Community on various projects and served as Lt. Gov in the early 1970s.
He is survived by 6 children Charles Loring and his girlfriend Cindy Woodard, Frank Loring Jr and his fiancé Lynn Rinfret Tijssen, John Loring, April Grivois and her husband Dennis, Joe Loring and his wife Tammy, and David Loring; 28 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews and dear friend retired Warden Dave Georgia.
He was predeceased by 10 siblings, brothers Melvin, George, Everett, Fred and sisters Rose, Esther, Ethel, Aleta, Annie and Marna and a grandson Frank Loring III
A funeral service will be conducted 12 Noon Wednesday at the American Legion Hall, Water St, Old Town, where friends and family will visit from 10 am until time of service. Burial will be in the spring at Tribal Cemetery, Indian Island with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Water Street Old Town, ME 04468
