George Louis Boucher

George Louis Boucher beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to so many passed away peacefully February 5, 2011 surrounded by his devoted wife and family that loved him so dearly.

George was born September 19, 1921 in Old Town, ME the son of Isadore Charles Boucher of St. Norbert, NB, Canada and Josephine Girouard Boucher of St. Marie, NB, Canada.

He attended Old Town schools and as a young man met and fell in love with Dorothy Lacadie-Carey who became the love of his life. George and Dorothy married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Old Town on September 5, 1942 and were blessed with more than 68 years of marriage. As our dad would always say, "If I had to, I would do it all over again".

George was known for his beautiful smiling blue eyes, his deep caring, kindness and consideration for all people. Throughout his life his love of music was evident always tapping his foot or fingers to the beat. He enjoyed dancing, playing the guitar, drums, harmonica and mouth harp. Many of these jam sessions were shared with his dear friend Cliff Doucette.

George was a member of the CCC's and was a WWII Veteran proudly serving his country overseas in the European Theater. When he returned home from his duties he served on the Special Police Forces in Old Town, he was employed at the Old Town Pie Plate Factory and the PCF Pulp and Paper Mill. He later traveled to Thule Greenland to work for Peter KeWitt Construction Co. at Thule Air Force Base and Camp Century on the Ice Cap under the supervision of T.A. Lee also of Old Town. He, along with many fine young men from the Old Town area received their introduction into the field of construction which many continue to this day. While at Thule dad made many friends from all over the world but none were more important to him than his Old Town Boys!!!! He continued in this field as a pipecoverer which took him back to Thule Greenland, Vietnam, Puerto Rico and many places throughout New England. He joined the Pipecoverers Union Local 6 out of Boston, MA and worked many years in this trade until his retirement. Dad, being such a hard worker returned to work for his son in-law John Lee of Sullivan and Merritt Construction Co. where he worked until the age of 80. He so enjoyed his work and the companionships he made while he was employed there.

After 12 years at Sullivan and Merritt he decided to retire for good to spend time at home with his wife and putter around. They enjoyed many wonderful years in Old Town and always looked forward to family gatherings at home or at Beech Hill Pond in Otis, especially the 4th of July celebration which turned into a family tradition. When George's health required him to relocate he chose the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor where he could be accompanied by his wife Dorothy. This became their second home where he was loved and respected by all the staff and residents, he also returned that love each day with his new family of friends. He was always cracking jokes bringing a smile to many faces, that was our dad. George and his wife shared many wonderful days together at the Veterans Home.

George is survived by his devoted wife Dorothy Lacadie-Carey Boucher, loving daughters and their husbands, John and Sheila Lee, Otis, ME, Beverly and Alan Greenleaf of Old Town, Nancy and Rick Bender of Kingston, NH.

His many grandchildren that adored him: Rhonda Lee and Jeffery Montleleone, Jon and Lisa LaPierre Lee, Todd Lee and Donna Gendron, Susan and Chris Kordish, Theresa and Nick Mamatas, Benjamin Trudel, Chris and Jill Trudel, Luke Trudel, Anthony Boucher-Greenleaf, Jerrett and Alexi Greenleaf and Jenny Greenleaf.

His precious great grandchildren that always kept that sparkle in his eyes;

Sarah Veilleux, John and Annmarie Kordish, Evan Paul Lee, George, Nikolas and Athena Mamatas, Thomas Alan Lee, Peyton and Kayleigh Trudel and Teddy and Taylor Hanson. We will miss you grampy but will never forget you!!!

He is also survived by his in-laws Harold and Dawn Lacadie, Marjorie Lacadie, Germaine Nadeau, Jeanne Pettorossi and Roger Parent and nieces, Charlene and husband Bill Bourbon, Elaine and Roy Little, Janice Hunt, nephew, Artie Murphy. He held much love in his heart for two of his dearest friends, Mike Porter and Bill Deshane

George was predeceased by his parents, Isadore and Josephine Boucher, sister Loretta and husband Arthur Murphy, sister Jeannette Hunt. His mother and father in-law Rose Yvonne Lacadie LeBlanc and Dedus LeBlanc. He was also predeceased by dearest in-laws, Richard Lacadie, Patricia Parent, Lorraine Tidwell, Albert Tidwell and Thomas Nadeau and Leonardo (Pete) Pettorossi.

Our dad was an angel on earth and is now Home. We will all be watching for that bright new shining star up in the Heavens that God saved just for you dad. Like you always said when asked how you were doing, your answer was always "Hanging in There" and that is what we will be doing until we meet again. You taught us well.

We love you and will miss you dearly, thank you daddy. (OUR HERO)

The family would like to thank everyone for the love and amazing care given to our dad while at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor and to the staff of doctor's and nurses at St. Joseph Hospital for their care, compassion and kindness. Thank you Raphe and your whole department.

At the request of our father there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial and burial service with full military honors and a reception following will be held at a date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor in memory of our dad, George Boucher.
