

She attended Old Town schools and had perfect attendance throughout, graduating in 1948 from Old Town High School. Following graduations, she began work at the University of Maine in the Athletic department, retiring 47 years later. She loved to travel, many shopping excursion with her close friend June, trips to the coast, watching TV and enjoyed animals.
Helen is survived by her nephew, Alex Young, special cousin, Pam and Mike Oakes, and their family, Aaron and Heather Oakes and children Nickolas and Deanna; Scott and Kelly Oakes and children, Paige and Logan; dearest friend, June Smart; other cousins, Maryann and Tom Heald, Gregory and Debbie Richard, Tony and Rosemary Richard, and Mark Richard; family friends, Donald Poisson and John Nash. She was predeceased by her mother, brother, and sister-in-law, Percy and Frances Young.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at St. Joseph Hospital for treating Helen with compassion and dignity, and to the City of Old Town Fire and Rescue for all they have done for her.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28 at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church, Old Town. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
