

Old Town—Nicholas Ian Sucy died unexpectedly January 19, 2011 at a Bangor hospital. He was born March 24, 1979 the son of Michael and Anne (Desjardins) Sucy.
Nick was a 1997 graduate of Old Town High School where he excelled in both academics and athletics. He played baseball, football and hockey and served as team captain of the hockey and football teams his senior year. He majored in Engineering at the University of Maine. Nick was a Boston sports fan, enjoying the Red Sox, Patriots, and Bruins. He enjoyed time spent playing adult hockey and softball with his father and older brother and later participated in handicapped skiing and sled hockey. Nick was proud to be a volunteer with Bangor Area Literacy Volunteers. He will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, his quest for knowledge and his profound compassion and spirituality. The strength and determination he exhibited while battling his disability was a source of inspiration to all who knew him.
Nick is survived by his mother Anne Wight and her husband David of Greenbush; his father Michael Sucy of Old Town; his brother and best friend Aaron Sucy and fiancé Samantha Cole of Old Town; special nephew Aidan Nicholas Sucy; step-sisters Rachael Wight Strain and her husband Dean and their sons Tyler and Garrett of Hardy, VA and Stephanie Pooler and her companion Michael Gagne of Portland; many close and caring aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as many dear friends too numerous to list. The family wishes to give a heartfelt thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and staff of Kelley 3 at EMMC for their compassionate care of Nick.
A celebration of Nick’s life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday January 29, 2011 at the Herbert Sargent Community Center, Bennoch Road, Stillwater, where family and friends may gather. A memorial service will immediately follow at 4:00 pm.
