Milford – Richard “Red” Hesseltine, 81, husband of the late Judith Hesseltine, died peacefully at his residence with his family by his side on January 11, 2022. He was born in Milford, December 10, 1940 a son of Charles and Arlene (Currier) Hesseltine.
Red loved life and lived every day to the fullest. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whether it was camping, fishing or hunting, he was happiest when he was around people. Red was very much a prankster and loved to make you laugh! He loved to reminisce and talk about his adventures with his partners in crime “Knotty Fortier” and “Red Lenfest”. His favorite story was when he caught a baby bear with his bare hands and gave it a beer! His stories never got old! Red loved to fish for perch ($1.00 on first fish and $1.00 on the biggest) always a competition! He really enjoyed his last camping trip this past August where he got to spend time with his kids and brother’s Stanley and Bruce Hesseltine out to Sabao!
He was always on the go selling fiddleheads or making Christmas Wreaths! He enjoyed taking rides with his little dog “Daisy” who never left his side. Even at the end of his life, Daisy would not budge!
He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Judith Hesseltine, his father Charles Hesseltine, mother, Arlene (Currier) Hesseltine Pride and his four brothers, George, Eddie, Clair, and Lawrence "Whitey" Hesseltine Sr.; four sisters, Linda Cyr, Delores Miller, Sharon Raymond and Gloria Jenkins.
He is survived by two brothers Stanley "Wimp" and Bruce Hesseltine; 5 children; Richard Hesseltine Jr and wife Donna; Wendy Hesseltine; George Hesseltine and wife Susie; Daniel Hesseltine and wife Patty; Vicki Blais and husband Mike Blais; 12 Grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Special friends who are like extended family; Mary & Stephen Lacadie; Ernie Larry; Keith Adams & Linda St.Peter (loved those banana cream pies), thank you all for being such great friends to our dad!
