Richard Darrell Watson, 73, passed on June 22, 2021. He was born to Richard Watson and Faith Harris Watson in Old Town, Maine on June 30, 1948, and grew up in Greenfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gary. He knew Mary Dorr since they were children and later in life they spent 25 years together. He is also survived by his former spouse, Gaen; daughter, Shawna; son, Richard; and 2 grandchildren, Faith and Richard; as well as his sisters, Terry and April, and their families.
Richard attended Old Town High School graduating in 1967. In 1968 he joined the Army, where he proudly served, achieving the rank of Specialist fourth class. After serving 4 years he was Honorably Discharged, March 1971. Richard worked as a pipe fitter and was a member of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local # 716 for over 40 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved hunting, fishing and back roads riding. He also loved going down to Camp. A Camp which he worked on for over 20 years, clearing and cultivating blueberry fields. He valued the time he had at camp with his many close friends, family and anyone else who may stop by. He was never afraid to make a new friend, and did his best to stay up to date with the happenings of the town. He was always active in his community, A longtime member of the V.F.W, Old Town Elks, American Legion and PipeFitters Union #716.
A closed service will be held at the Greenfield Cemetery for Close Family.
