Old Town - Rose May Dupuis, 98, of Old Town, Maine, died this past Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Sylvia Ross Manor. She was born on Monday, May 25, 1925 in Old Town, the youngest child and daughter of the late Harry and Josephine (Seymour) Cote. Rose was a graduate of Old Town High School and started training for work as a bank teller while still in school. She worked as a teller until 1952 and spent most of her work years as a bookkeeper for Roy Brothers.
Rose led an active physical and social life. Weather permitting, she would walk up to two miles a day. She liked to engage in various crafts as well as gardening. She had many friends whose company she enjoyed. For years she and a group of women who graduated from high school together formed "The Club" who met monthly for over fifty years. In later years she joined the senior citizens club of Old Town. She especially enjoyed joining her husband, Leo and her three sisters aka "the Golden Girls", going out dining, shopping, or participating in other events of interest. She also enjoyed entertaining her friends and family including many nieces and nephews at her families’ summer camp in Milbridge. Another activity that gave her great pleasure is doing art projects with art students from Husson University. There was even a local news article about it.
Rose is previously deceased by her husband Leo of 35 years; her siblings Alvina Cyr, Alice Dupuis, Clement Cote, Florence Dupuis, and Clarence Cote. She is survived by her stepson, Richard Dupuis and his wife Carol (Flanagan) Dupuis; her grandchildren, Catherine and her husband Peter Wahl, Mark Dupuis and his wife Melissa (Blatman) Dupuis, and Kristina Dupuis. Further survived by great grandchildren, Ethan and Trevor Wahl, Leo and Marielle Dupuis, and Peyton, Noël, and Will Salvador and numerous nieces and nephews.
