

Amos F. Mitchell went to be with the Lord on August 24, 2011, at the age of 87. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, August 26, and funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 27, all at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Interment will follow in Byhalia Cemetery. Amos was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Watson Community Chapel for many years. He retired as a Master Carpenter and subcontractor. Amos was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mary Katherine Mitchell; his brothers, Elmo and O.C. Mitchell; and his granddaughter, Amy Miller. He leaves behind his son, Tommy Mitchell (Susan) of Olive Branch; four daughters, Shirley Myers (Gordon) of Memphis, Kay White of Horn Lake, Peggy King (Jerry) of Byhalia, and Barbara Reeves (William) of Hernando; 18 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; two sisters, Imogene Erwin and Rebecca Gurley; two brothers, James Lamar Mitchell and Delly “Sonny” Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Amos was truly “One of a Kind”. Memorial contributions may be directed to either the Alzheimer’s Association or the Senatobia Convalescent Center.
