Brenda Faye Stephens, age 80, passed away at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven, Mississippi on May 9, 2022 . She was surrounded by her three remaining children, three grandchildren and nephew. Brenda was born on July 25, 1941 to Zelma and Howard Bowling. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter “Steve” Stephens and her son, Ben Stephens. She is survived by her son Walt Stephens, daughters Shana Young and Tonya Glass, grandchildren Kari Orr, Morgan Frederic, Danny Stephens, Chase Young, Rachel Stephens and Ryan Cordice. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren.
Brenda and Steve were married June 7th, 1963. They raised their 4 children in the town of Collierville, Tennessee. She was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories that they will cherish forever. Despite having her own family, she was like another Mom to so many children in her small town and she loved them as her own.
Brenda loved to cook and make crafts. She was the number one cheerleader for her children and loved more than anything to be in the stands at a Collierville Football game, cowbell in hand. She was truly one of a kind.
Brenda’s health was failing for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled the last few weeks. The strength that she showed during this time was indescribable. Her joy for life and the love for her family kept her pushing through the pain. In the end, she was tired and mentioned many times that she was ready to be with Jesus and her husband and son. Although her family would have wanted her around forever, they are relieved that she is no longer suffering. Her family grieves her loss but take comfort knowing that she has been reunited with her husband and son.
Her children and grandchildren invite the community to join them in a Celebration of Life Ceremony. It will take place at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch, Ms on May 13, 2022. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 pm followed by the Funeral service at 2 pm. A graveside service will follow and all are welcome to join.
