Catherine was truly an inspiration to me. We met at Memphis State in the history department and I have continued to admire her determination, her insight, her intellect and her kindness.  She showed me what could be done when you wanted to.  She helped me through some difficult times when I needed help.
She will always be in my memory

Catherine Pickle was my mentor...a true Southern lady with a "little sass"...that's what I loved about her, and how I'll always remember her.  She was truly an inspiration to me and to all of those who ever knew her.  The Memphis City Schools was never the same after she retired.  I know she and Clifton are having a wonderful reunion.

Thank you for unselfishly sharing your wonderful mom with me.  Dr. Pickle came into my as a good teacher, but became much more: my first mentor and my great friend.  You already know the profound impact she had on my life and for that I am eternally grateful.  I count having her in my life as a special blessing for me and for my family.  I will miss my friend's  abiding intelligence, wisdom, sharp wit and hearty laugh.  Your mother is the epitome and role model for how a Christian journey should be traveled. Dr. Pickle's family was always the source of great pride for her.  Another of her greatest joys was tending and growing her flowers and her garden.  Perhaps this is why she was so adept at identifying, encouraging and nurturing the potential of so the many men and women she met along the life's journey.

Dr. Pickle taught me at Carver High. She educated us and helped prepare us for adulthood. She will be missed..

Your mother was truly a great, loving person. She was my homeroom teacher her first year at George Washington Carver High and she quickly became a favorite among my fellow members of the senior class in 1971. She was a great educator, very firm and also loving and caring. I had the pleasure of spending time with her during my school's 50 year celebration in 2007 as we honored her as one the elite educators in our school's history. I am honored to have known her and I am a better man due to her positive influence on my life. I will miss her... God bless each and every one of you.

Dr. Pickle was a lovely, warm woman and an outstanding member of our profession. She was an inspiration for many women rising in the administrative ranks of Memphis City Schools. Hers is a loss for all who knew her. My deepest condolences to her family.
