John Clayton Sturgeon, 56, of Byhalia, MS passed away on April 21, 2026. Clay was born on March 13, 1970, in Dallas, TX. He worked with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department for over 15 years. In his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors. He liked spending time at the beach, camping, and riding four wheelers. He was also a huge Alabama Crimson Tide football fan. Clay was preceded in death by his father, Bill Sturgeon. He is survived by his son, Austin Sturgeon; daughter, Ashleigh Sturgeon; daughter, Cameron Sturgeon; mother, Millie Sturgeon; brother, Greg Sturgeon (Jennifer); and brother, Jason Sturgeon (Angela). The family will receive friends for a memorial gathering at Brantley Funeral Home on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 10:00-11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Hearts and Hand Ministries (hhministriesbyhalia.org).
