David "Dave" John Gries

David John “Dave” Gries, 60, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019 at Baptist East in Memphis, TN. Dave’s favorite pastimes were hunting, spending time with his family and friends, and his beloved dogs, Dixie and Dandelion. He also had a love for bluegrass and being at the family lake house in Pickwick. Dave leaves behind his wife, Kathy Gries; his parents, Frank and Betty Gries; two sons, David Gries (Amber) and Frankie Gries; two stepsons, Westley Jones (Maria) and Chase Jones; a sister, Dawn Pena (Pedro); 3 brothers, Dennis Gries, Doug Gries, and Donnie Gries. He also leaves behind 3 granddaughters, Olivia, Ella, Lilly, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Dave was loved by many and will be missed dearly. In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829 Arlington, VA 2215. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Southwoods.
