Elon Griffin

Elon Griffin, 84, of Byhalia, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, and funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, all at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Interment will be at 2 p.m. in the Poplar Springs Cemetery outside Vardaman, MS. Born in Houston, MS, Mr. Griffin served in the U. S. Army during World War II, and he was the Founder and President of Griffin, Inc. in Byhalia for more than 26 years, until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Olive Branch. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Lee Griffin, and his granddaughter, Sheila Marie Spencer. Elon is survived by his wife of 63 years, Movalene P. Griffin; his daughter, Jane Spencer (John); three sisters, Allene Dunam, Myra Shields, and Lynette Ferguson; his brother, Curtis Griffin (Monette); two granddaughters, Heather Spencer Hickman (Todd) and Amy Leigh Presley (James); his grandson, John Spencer; and ten great-grandchildren, Kristin, Joseph, Clifton, Josh, Aaron, Gina, Spencer, Griffin, Dakota, and Elon. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Olive Branch, the Salvation Army, or a charity of the Donor’s Choice.
