

Frances Mae Wofford went to be with the Lord on November 29, 2015. Frances was 85 years old and died of complications from ovarian cancer and pneumonia. Born on September 15, 1930 in Becker, Mississippi to Henry and Mabel Rollins, her family moved to Memphis, Tennessee when she was a young child. She graduated from Memphis Tech High School in 1948. In 1952 she met Joe T. Wofford of Hohenlinden, Mississippi and they were wed in July of 1953. Their first fourteen years were spent living in Memphis before relocating to Olive Branch, Mississippi in 1968. She served as a teacher’s aide at Olive Branch Junior High School for two years. Frances had the gift of nurturing and she poured her life in to her family. Along with Joe she raised their three children and was an active presence in the lives of her five grandchildren and five great grandchildren right up until the time of her death. She was a lifelong church member where she could be found lending her strong soprano voice to the choir every Sunday. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Sylvia Harris, and daughter, Carolyn Lang. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joe Wofford, daughter Donna Roach and her husband Tom, and son Dennis Wofford and his wife Gayle, grandchildren Jeff Strawn, Justin Strawn, Tiffany Anderson, Ben Wofford, and Lela Wofford. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Thurs. Dec. 3, 2015 from 1:00pm-2:00pm with the service to follow at 2:00pm all at Gracewood Baptist Church, 8551 Getwell Road, Southaven, MS 38672.
