

Garry is survived by his wife, Judy Bland Loyd of Olive Branch; his mother, Kathleen Hicks of Sanford, FL, one sister, Mary Kitchenka of New Smyrna, FL, and one brother, Sidney Loyd of Sanford, FL, his four children, Blaine Loyd and Daryl Loyd of Memphis, Tanya McFadden and Renee Diaz (Chris) of Olive Branch, and five grandchildren: Hunter Green, Harper Loyd, Dylan and Nicole McFadden, and Foster and Cross Diaz.
Garry graduated from Seminole High School in Sanford, FL in 1965 after a successful basketball career there and at Seminole Junior College. He then graduated from Murray State University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Business. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War as a Captain pilot in the U.S. Air Force. After the war, he began his career as a dairy farmer on an 1100-acre farm eventually starting his own successful business, River City Wholesale Florist in 1989.
He grew up in Sanford, FL enjoying a childhood involving his love of the outdoors, sports (baseball, basketball and golf), boy scouts and the ROTC. He was devoted to his family and known for his kindness, business acumen and love for travel—especially to the beach. He loved his grandchildren dearly, spending time with them at their cabin four-wheeling or boating on Pickwick Lake.
Funeral visitation will be at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch on Monday, August 24, 2015 from 5-7 pm, funeral service on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at Brantley with gravesite service at West TN Military Veterans Cemetery immediately following. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Garry’s life.
