Gordon Russell Greer, 76, of Southaven, MS passed away November 21, 2023. Mr. Greer was born in Rushville, IL to the late Russell and Marjorie Greer. As a young man, he served our country in the United States Army. After his service, he worked in the metal forging industry making automobile parts. In 1998 he purchased Bogies Deli in Memphis and was the owner until his passing. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family. One of his greatest joys was being “Papa” to his grandchildren. He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending games. He especially enjoyed watching the Kentucky Wildcats, Memphis Tigers, Tennessee Titans, and Memphis Grizzlies. He was a kind and caring man who always had a smile to give everyone. Mr. Greer is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon Greer; daughter, Patti Murphy (Mike); son, Bradley Russell Greer (Mia); daughter, Jolynn Greer; daughter, Tricia Scott; grandchildren: Samantha Harmon, Hunter Greer, Brooke Greer, Lindsey Jackson (Samuel), Cole Scott, Jake Scott, and Keaton Heughan; great-grandchildren: Benton Jackson, Skyler Melton, Georgia Melton, Kade Jackson, and Wyatt Jackson; and a sister, Joyce Ray (Van). The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at Brantley Funeral Home on Monday, November 27, 2023 from 1-2 pm with a funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
