13, 2021. He was previously from Melbourne, AR, born in Oklahoma moved to
Colorado briefly then headed to California with his family before finally landing in
Memphis, TN.
He exemplified humbleness, a sweet soul with an intellect like no other, and a
willingness to help others. He had an outlandish sense of humor including playing
pranks on family and friends. Among his favorite hobbies was collecting movies
and music. He was a walking reference for the most obscure actor and characters
that had been portrayed. His love of music was beyond comprehension. He loved
all genres Rock, Blues, Jazz, Country including members of the bands and year
album/single music was released. He attended many concerts through the years.
One of his very favorite artists was Van Morrison “Someone Like You” and was
looking forward to Alice Cooper in the fall at Tupelo, MS. Cal was an exceptional
gifted artist working especially with cedar while employed at Pilot Knob Cedar
Works Melbourne, AR in Izard county for over 17 years and after the company
closed he continued his woodwork and included some canvas when the mood
struck.
He enjoyed a good flea market especially those not on the beaten path and was
known for buying his family lovely keepsakes of the heart for which we shall
cherish!
His predecessors were Edward “Speedy” Campbell, Father; Ruth Vest Campbell,
Mother and Jesse James Campbell, infant son.
He leaves the love and soulmate of this life his wife Virginia Quarry and son Jon
Quarry and family. In addition he leaves Karen Campbell, Sister, Aunts, Uncles,
host of nephews and nieces and many cousins.
In addition Cal leaves his closest long time friends who he considered to be his
brothers! They enjoyed their association through Exploring Izard County of which
Cal was an original member and back roading to their favorite old churches,
schools, caves and waterfalls sharing Arkansas history of older times among
themselves or on group tours.
Cal recently shared work with many friends at FedEx - Hub who called him “Mr.
James” which he enjoyed sharing his humor and gorgeous singing voice. You
knew what mood he was in that day by the song he sang!
He loved pulling for the Arkansas Razorbacks and University of Memphis Tigers!
His first college football game was seeing Navy vs The Tigers at the Liberty Bowl.
Cal enjoyed keeping up with the Memphis Redbirds. When not working Cal and his
wife took day trips around the mid south checking out local restaurant flavors and
interesting sights. He loved history and nature.
Cal attended Kingsway Christian Church Germantown, TN where he especially
loved the Moravian Love Feast held at Christmas plus Wednesday night fellowship.
Remembrances for Cal may be made by your choice.
Sweet soul you are loved more than words may impart, in our hearts always and
remember “You are the One!”
