James Thomas Gaston, 93, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 19, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. He was born April 1, 1929 to the late Grover William Gaston and Cora Fern Hoseney Gaston in Charleston, Illinois. He served in the United States Army for 8 years and loved his country. He was a Korean War Veteran as a Master Sgt. where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He retired from General Electric Medical Systems where he worked for 33 1/2 years. He loved God, his family, sports, and golfing. He had trusted Christ and knew where he was going. He was a quiet man of faith. James was a kind man and a faithful gentle person. He was a loving, hardworking husband, dad, grandfather and great grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Joan of 71 years. He leaves behind four children, Greg (Judy) of Versailles, Ky, Gary (Candy) of Marietta, GA, Pam (Steve) of Memphis, TN, Bruce (Shelbi) Coldwater, MS, one brother, Max (Joyce) of Mesa, AZ twelve grandchildren, Abigail (Chris), Victoria, Emily, Timothy (Angie), Bethany (Kelsey), Tyler, Daniel (Rachel), Amber (Fiancé’ Alex), Lydia (Stephen), Ryan (Clare), Joshua (Kasie), Brooke (Jay), and nineteen great grandchildren, Lincoln, Isla, Colton, Gwendolyn, Cora, Noah, Addison, Graham, Grace, Melanie, lsabelle, Ruby, Lucas, Nathan, Cayson, Cayden, Jocelyn , Carson, Ryleigh and many nieces and nephews. James was one of nine children, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Robert, Joseph, Dean and Bennie and sisters, Lois and Deloris. A funeral service will be held on Friday December 23, 2022 at Brantley Funeral Home at 6875 Cockrum Street Olive Branch, MS. 38654. Visitation 1:00 p.m., 2:00 Service. Grave side will be immediately following the service at Autumn Woods Memorial Park located at 6240 Davidson Rd. Olive Branch, MS 38654.
