I think about Jeff so frequently - and miss him.  He was great to work with - such a dear, sweet man. I was honored to know him.

I am reminded every day of what a Great Boss Jeff was. I thank God I never took him for granted because of who he was and the love he had for all people regardless or race or culture give me a better meaning of "How Great Thy Are". Thank you Jeff for being a boss, a friend and real person. You will always be missed.

When we were little kids I just could not wait for Jeff, Greg, Lynn , Mark and Staci and Jay to come out to the country to Grandmother and Granddaddy's to visit...We had the best times...Great memories I will cherish forever. A life that made a difference!  Jeff lived his life as a living testimony of devotion to his Savior, his family and his friends.  He was truly an example of how Godly people should live whatever time they have here on earth to bring others to know Jesus Christ.  I know that Jeff's life did make a difference in everyone that was privileged to know him, either personally, or through his recorded testimony that literally went from coast to coast.  There are no words that can be put on paper to adequately describe just how much he loved his family or how much our family will miss him.  We consider it a great honor and are very blessed to have been a part of his life.  We look forward to a joyous reunion when he meets us at Heaven's gate.

I had the wonderful privilige of working with Jeff at Baptist - Memphis in the late 90's. Jeff impressed me in so many ways. Not only was he a bright, highly effective CFO and faithful employee of Baptist, but he was a shining example of being Christian at work. Trememdous integrity. An ardently devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Other than being a Tiger fan...he was just about perfect...:-). Seriously, I hope when I grow up...I can become more like Jeff. Leanne, boys, family...you are in our thoughts and prayers...

I had the pleasure of working with Jeff for many years. I was a manager when he first started working at Baptist. He took time to meet with all of us. I was so impressed with our "new CFO". He was sweet, eager and so excited about learning from us and helping us to learn.

About 3 years ago, I had the great opportunity of working very close with Jeff. He embraced me in my new role and treated me like a sister. He did so many sweet things like walking to the car with me when we had late meetings and supporting me when I was unsure.

We have all been honored with moments with Jeff that touched our lives. It is hard to let him go from this earth but he will always be in our hearts. 

My thoughts and prayers are with his entire family who he loved so much.

During my career I have never worked with a more God fearing, family oriented man than Jeff.  He was passionate about his job, family, the Memphis Tigers, golf and was always true to his Christian values. His concern for others was evident when I visited him during a recent hospital stay.  He asked how I was doing, asked about my family and ended our conversation with "roll tide". Jeff and I were often golf partners and he  always offered encouragement even when I hit my drive into the woods. He was a true friend and will be greatly missed.  My thoughts and prayers go out to Leanne, Will, Zack and his entire family.

Leanne, Zach, and Will...I'm so truly sorry for your lose.  Jeff was a great man.  I got to know Jeff while working on a payroll committee with him and my Husband, Mike also worked with Jeff.  He was so nice and easy to talk to.  I always saw him smiling.  I'll never forget when he first got sick that he had called me about a report I was doing for him and I told him that Mike and I would be praying for him daily. He thanked me and he said that he was going to put that on his daily calendar so he would see every day that Mike and I were praying for him.  What a great man.  Your family will continue to be in our prayers and Jeff will truly be missed. BMH CATH LAB: On Oprah show, most people are concerned if they made an impact. Jeff light surely shined. He treated us with a genuine respect that you could not miss. He taught us so much; we never flinched when he call about an issue, because all you wanted to do was to get an understanding from him and work it out. He will be truely missed and never forgotten.

I had the honor of working with Jeff at BMH-Memphis. He was such a great leader with such a giving spirit. Jeff truly cared about his team members. His door was always open and I knew I could talk to him about anything. I might not like what he always said (because he always saw both sides of everything) but I knew it came from his heart. He told us to "bring our heart and passion to work each day". Jeff did this each and every day and inspired me to do the same. It seems like I was always pulling some type of report for Jeff and I learned so much during this time. I catch myself today thinking "how would Jeff want me to pull this report". He had a way about making you think outside the box. 
Although we have suffered a tremendous loss, there is comfort in knowing Jeff has finally received his complete healing. May God bless each of you during this time.

It was my pleasure to have known and worked with Jeff when he was a teenager. Jeff was an outstanding young man who followed the godly example of his parents. He was part of a wonderful family. My first encountered with Jeff was after completing a Leadership class at Baptist Memphis.  In order to pass the class we had to answer questions in front of 3 administrators.  I had been a Head Nurse for maybe 3 months, I was terrified.  When giving my response to one of the question, I stuttered, I am sure my face was flushed. Jeff placed a hand on my arm and told me that I was doing fine.  I will never forget his compassion and kindness.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I had the pleasure of meeting and working under Jeff while he was the CFO at Baptist Hospital.  All too often, those that carry such a title are intimidating and unapproachable.  This was not the case with Jeff.  He was always so welcoming and friendly.  He always addressed me by name and I guarantee that no one else that has held his position even knows my name.  I have always thought highly of him and respected him for being just an all around nice guy.  Please know that he will be missed and that your family will be in my prayers.

Jeff was a wonderful mentor and a great leader.  I had the pleasure of working for him for many years at BMH-Memphis.  I will always remember a time that he spoke to my department after returning from a leadership retreat - Team Trek.  He spoke about working with passion and treating patients like they were your own family.  He was so inspirational, we all would have voted for him for President that day. It was plain to see that he was speaking from his heart.  He had great passion for his work, family, friends and his love for Christ.  We will miss him dearly.

I have so many great memories of Jeff from our years at OBA. Jeff was a friend to everyone and was a true example of Christian love. A man such as Jeff will be greatly missed.

Jeff was such an inspiration to me in the 10 years I worked in the Business Office at BMH-Memphis. His bright smile caught me so many times walking up and down the halls and at some of the celebrations of our successes which he attended. He always treated everyone around him with such respect and courtesy. All of the supervisors and managers pulled a really awesome prank on our Director for April Fools Day once and it was months later when I personally had the opportunity to tell him about it. I will never forget how he laughed and thought it was the best April Fools prank ever! Jeff was a wonderful leader and touched me numerous times with his kind words of genuine concern and compassion when I had family in the hospital myself. A couple of times, these were serious events and he always asked for me to let him know how everything turned out. That was extraordinary to me that his compassion for mankind was something he shared with others in his everyday life. He truly was a great man and I will miss him tremendously! I will continue to pray for his family during their time of loss.

I remember Jeff being someone I always had to drop by and chat with following Sunday morning services at Oakhaven Baptist Church before I moved away.  He was always the same... happy, cheerful and glad to see ya.  I'm looking foward to the next time we chat.....  God bless the entire Nowell family.

I could always count on Jeff being able to banter about our chosen sports teams and incompatibilities of the color orange and the color blue. I have missed the chance to pass Jeff in the hallways of Baptist Hospital and share a smile or kind word. I could tell that he prized his family and his faith and valued what love had brought to enrich his life. There are few mortal words that I can add to express my sympathy to his family, but I just wanted to express my thankfulness to have heard a few of his jokes and to have known him as a fine Christian coworker. I had placed the T.I.G.E.R.S. blue shirt facing outward in my closet as a prayer reminder for your family over the past few months. Celebrate Jeff's life as the loving person he was and will continue to be in your memories and faith.

To know Jeff was to love Jeff. I was fortunate to get to work with Jeff and blessed to call him friend.I can still see that mischievious grin and will never get over the terror of riding with him in Boston's rush hour traffic. Jeff was a man of faith that loved his family, his friends, the Memphis Tigers and most of all Jesus Christ. My life is better for having known him. To Jeff's family, I am praying that God will shower you with His comfort and peace and that you will know this world is a better place for Jeff Nowell having been in it.

I came to Baptist Memphis on July 9, 2007. Little did I know that by coming to work that day I would meet a great man who became my dear friend quickly. His first words to me that morning were, "girl we need to get you out of orientation and we are about to turn on this electronic medical record." I looked at him and said, "hmmm--I should have asked more questions at my interview." He let out that great laugh that only Jeff had and said "yep, let's get busy." I have never known a more loving and devoted husband, father, son and friend to those he loved. Leanne, Will and Zach, thank you for sharing him with us and know he made a difference in the lives of many.

Jeff will always be known to me as not only a great mentor and leader but also one of the most patient, kind hearted persons I've had the pleasure of working with.  I was a brand new Director when I started at Baptist and Jeff took the time to teach me all I needed to know about financials and  healthcare overall.  He always did this in such a patient yet humerous way.  I will always remember him for his guidance, leadership, and great spiritial strength. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

To Leanne, the boys and Nowell family, please accept my deepest condolences.  I was so very honored to have worked for Jeff.  He was such a gentleman, and he so loved his family.   I can still hear him telling us funny stories about things his boys had said or done, and those times he was on a mission to find Leeanne that special gift! He was a great listener and leader for those who worked directly under him and as well those that didnt but needed his advice as I did. But I as well was able to see in his heart that God had planted a light in him to truly know what is important about life. I have many memories to reflect on from Chamber trips with he and LeAnne to his Detroit trip with my husband, Jim for a ballgame where they got stuck spending the night with my in-laws, to his long winded conversations with lots of advice. I have so many great memories of all Jeff and all of the Nowell family. After such a battle, Jeff is receiving his warrior's welcome.Our hearts are full with prayers that God's arms will wrap you all with love and peace and comfort.

Leanne and Nowell family. I can't express enough the loss I feel. Being Jeff's secretary for years and developing the most blessed relationship any employee could have with her boss. He was one that I could walk in his office and feel comfortable taking about any issues or personal problems. He had an ear and every person meant a lot to him, regardless of the situation there was two sides to every story and he made everyone feel he was there for them. During his illness before he left Baptist he and I spent every day in prayer and he would say I want my life to be a blessing to others, well Jeff it was because your life brought so many people closer to Christ because it gave us stength we didn't know we had and made our prayer life better with God - It made a difference and still does. We all laughed about his driving but he always got to his destination, through his drive to heaven, he hit some unseen bumps and took some unexpected turns but he made it to his destination. Leanne I love you and feel your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I didn't know Jeff, but I know the battle with ALS.  I am truly sad to see this disease take another bright, vibrant person in the prime of their life.  Glad to see the family rests in the hope of heaven and that Jeff is now there rejoicing with his Lord.

I cannot even begin to say how sorry I am for you're loss.  Jeff was such an incredible guy.  I haven't seen him in several years but the last time I did see him he was just such a proud father and husband.  I have great memories of being friends with him in school and my family and I are praying daily for his sweet family at this time.  He's facing the Lord now and although his loss is so very sad it's so awesome as a Christian to know that we will see him again and that heaven is rejoicing that he is with them.
