

Joe P. Davis, 89, of Olive Branch, MS passed away January 17, 2016. He was born November 17, 1926 in Charleston, MO to the late R. C. and Rose Davis. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked for Delta Airlines for 38 years and was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, where he was a longtime member of the Vestry and Sunday School Superintendent. He enjoyed bowling, flying and stock car races. He was a huge animal lover, donating food to the shelters and rescuing and raising ducks.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Jane Clayton Davis, who was his childhood sweetheart since the sixth grade, brothers; Bob Davis, Dr. Wilbur Davis and Captain Charles Davis and his sister Anna Sue Hodges. All his brothers served in WWII, Charles was KIA in 1944.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Cutliff, his grandsons Drew (Emily) Cutliff and Todd (Shannon) Cutliff, and great-grandchildren Braxton, Ansley, Nathan and Matthew.
Visitations will be held at Brantley Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2016 with funeral services to begin at 1:30 p.m. the same day. Burial will be at Southwoods Memorial Park. A special thanks to Stephanie Jones, R.N. and Hospice Advantage.
