Johnny Morrow McDonald, 73, of Olive Branch, MS, passed away suddenly Monday March 18, 2019 at his home. Mr. McDonald was born on November 18, 1945 to Emma Gloe Morrow McDonald and Floyd Oscar McDonald in Old Hickory, TN. He leaves behind his wife, Carolyn Ross McDonald of 40 years, his daughter, Michele McDonald Owens (Barry), of Old Hickory, TN, granddaughter, Rachel Owens, and great-grandson, Jax Yonnotti, of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by his brother, Carlene McDonald (Kathryn), of Baxter, TN, his nephew, Michael McDonald (Tracie), of Raleigh, NC, his brother-in-law, Robert Ross of Cayey, PR, step-daughter Kay Bourgault (Michael), of Shirley, MA, step-grandson, Christopher Zurhellen (Christine), and grandchildren, Leslie and Layne of Leominster, MA. Survivors also include his step-granddaughter, Jessica Haskell (Justin), and grandchildren, Isabella and Caleb of Shirley, MA. Johnny grew up and went to High School in Old Hickory, TN. He went to work at Capital Airlines and Braniff International as a gate agent. When Braniff closed, he continued employment in the airline business at Republic Airlines which was bought by Northwest, where he retired in 2009. Johnny's full-time hobby was playing Bluegrass Music on the upright bass which he thoroughly enjoyed. He loved his wife, his family, and his Northwest comrades and bluegrass brothers. He will be greatly missed by all. The family will host a memorial gathering and catered reception Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 2-5pm at Brantley Funeral Home of Olive Branch.
