

Kenneth Earl Pleasants, Sr., 90, of Southaven, MS went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2025. Mr. Pleasants was born on March 4, 1935 in Memphis, TN to the late Junius “Doc” Pleasants and Marjorie Hicks Denton. He is a 1953 graduate of Southside High School. After high school, he served our country in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He served for 10 years, and during his service he was a drill instructor at Paris Island. He was also a light weight boxer while in the Marines. Following his military service he worked in sales for 10 years with Holiday Inn. He later started Pleasants and Associates where he continued in the hotel manufacturing business. Mr. Pleasants served as an auxiliary officer for many years with the Collierville Police Department and DeSoto County Sherrif’s Department. He was also very active in the DeSoto County Crime Stoppers and served as the president of the board for many years. After his retirement, he worked in security for the Landers Center and Goldstrike and Horseshoe casinos in Tunica. He is a 32nd Degree Master Mason and a Shriner. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing and deep sea fishing. In his later years, he and his wife purchased an RV and traveled across the country. They also went on many cruises out of the country. Mr. Pleasants was a believer in Jesus Christ and attended Collierville Presbyterian for many years. He was a social and fun loving man who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Earl Pleasants, Jr.; son, Brett Allen Pleasants; and his twin brother, James Lawrence Pleasants. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Edna L. Pleasants; daughter, Sharon Gayle Raymer (Greg); bonus-children: Edna “Dorrie” Minor (Robert), Joe Daryel Newman, and Michael Tobin Newman (Rose); grandchildren: Kenneth Bryan Pleasants, Travis Paul Arnold (Theresa), Nicholas Ryan Thomas, and Haley Laurel Thomas Evans (Dalton); and great-grandchildren: Paige Pleasants, Elliott Pleasants, Jaxson Pleasants, and Greyson Arnold. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at Brantley Funeral Home on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 12-2 pm with a funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Midtown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude or the Wounded Warrior Project in his honor.
