

Knox was the true patriarch of his family. By his example and his words he taught faith, hope, respect and duty to four generations.
Knox was born in Memphis and graduated from Whitehaven high school. He married Bernice Noah at age eighteen and enlisted in the Army Air Corp during the height of WWll. He completed 40 missions as a B-17 bomber pilot. After the war, he continued his military career, retiring at the rank of Lt. Colonel. Along the way he also owned a hardware store and a service station in Memphis. He and Bernice raised four children: Bonnie Keene of Memphis, Robert Hardy of Ft. Smith Ark, Roy Hardy of Cleveland, GA and Gary Hardy of Horn Lake, MS. Knox also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, all of whom benefited from Knox’s influence.
Knox was a man of many skills and interests including woodwork, waterskiing and square dancing. He enjoyed any gathering of family and friends.
Knox was a member and deacon of several Baptist churches, most recently Gracewood Baptist Church of Southaven where he participated as member of the choir and on numerous mission trips. He will be remembered for his service, his generosity and his leadership.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 2:30 pm with visitation beginning at 2:00 pm at Gracewood Baptist Church, 8551 Getwell Rd. Southaven, MS 38672. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 11:00 am at Bethel Cemetery, Pine Valley Rd, Water Valley, MS 38965.
