

Olive Branch - Lawrence W. Curbo, 84, passed away at his home on April 11, 2010 while under the care of his family and hospice. Lawrence was born in August, 1925 in the family home on Davidson Road which at the time was a one lane dirt road running through the middle of farmland. He retired from the University of Memphis in 1989 after teaching accounting for 30 years. He became the inspiration for many of his family members to pursue accounting careers and no doubt inspired countless others during his years of teaching. He was a member of Mineral Wells United Methodist Church, a hunting club and three rook clubs. He also was a decorated veteran of WWII and served in the army in Germany and Central Europe. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nita Darling Curbo; two daughters, Sheila Curbo Geeslin (Eric) and Cynthia Curbo; four grandchildren, Carl Curbo (Rachel), Samantha Pass Williams (Neil), Angela Curbo Kienle and Cody Curbo; one great-grandson, Glenn Kienle, all of Olive Branch. Lawrence was preceded in death by his beloved son, Glenn Wilson Curbo. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 13, from 5-8 p.m. and the funeral service Wednesday, April 14, at 10 a.m., both at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch.
