Rev. Leon Burton, 70, of Hernando, MS. went to be with the Lord June, 11, 2014. He was the beloved Pastor at Emory Independent Methodist Church for 49 years. There will be a gathering of friends on Saturday, June 14, 2014 beginning at 12 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. all at the Emory Independent Methodist Church. Burial will follow immediately at Emory Independent Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Leon leaves his wife of 48 years Betty Burton; daughter, Beverly Burton Estes (John); son, Leon “Top” Burton; sister, Dorothy “Dot” Nelson; brother, Rev. Frank Burton and 3 grandchildren, Anna-Alicia, Russ and Rob Estes. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Emory Independent Methodist Church or St. Jude.
