

WALLS, MS — Louise Jones Taylor, 95, of Walls, Mississippi, and formerly of Crossett, Arkansas, passed away on March 7, 2026, at Desoto Healthcare in Southaven, Mississippi. Louise was a 1948 graduate of Wilmot High School, where she distinguished herself as Valedictorian of her class.
Shortly after graduation, she married William A. Taylor, with whom she was married for 61 years. Throughout her life, Louise was known for her strong work ethic and dedication to her community. She spent many years working at West’s Department Store and later Sharpe’s Department Store in Crossett, earning the respect of coworkers and customers alike. She continued working until her retirement at the remarkable age of 84.
Louise’s faith played a central role in her life. She was a devoted member of Pleasant Lane Baptist Church for more than 37 years. In her spare time, she took great joy in piecing quilts and working in her flower beds.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Elaine Murphy of Walls, MS; her son, David Taylor (Colleen) of Boca Raton, FL; and her brother, Gerald Jones of Sherwood, AR. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Lee Murphy (Monica) of Walls, MS, and Teri Taylor Freeman (Scott) of Crossett, AR; as well as three great‑grandchildren, Cody Loudermilk of Walls, MS, Will Taylor of Crossett, AR, and Taylor Murphy of Starkville, MS.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Taylor; her son, Bruce Taylor; her parents, Cleveland and Vernie Ward Jones; and her brother, Buddy Jones (Dorothy).
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Dry Bayou Cemetery in Wilmot, Arkansas.
