Stephen you took care of me, you were the best brother I have ever had, I miss you so much.... why couldn't you stay with our family? I want you back please. Everyone is depressed, everyone is crying everyday including me. Why did you have to leave us? Come back, please....

Kris, my heart hurts for you and your family and I am praying for you. I wish I'd had the opportunity to know Stephen.  May the Lord hold you close.

Stephen was one of the best Physics students I have taught.  He could quickly decipher problems and decide the math concept needed to solve the question. Last year, he e-mailed me and asked if he could come back to OB for a day and shadow me because he was thinking about teaching as a career.  I was honored by his request and when he came that day, he showed a maturity lacking in so many of our young people today.  He quickly helped my students with their work.  Needless to say, I was impressed.  I even told him to hurry up with his schooling and he could take my place when I retire.  He later sent a nice e-mail thanking me for the experience.  This young man will be missed..................


Stephen and I were great friends in high school. I was a year below him but we still had some classes together, as well as some friends in common. He was the type of person that always wanted to make the people around him laugh, and make sure they were happy. If they weren't,  he would invite them to talk to him about it and help them try to work through their problems. He was a brave guy, and even when he was going through problems he found a way to keep a smile on his face.

We were in Boy Scouts together since we were little kids, he was always funny and full of life. He was always smiling and laughing and I enjoyed being around him and having fun. I couldn’t believe what I saw that he’s no longer with us.  He reached out to me after years of absence to see how I was doing. I wish he was still here to see where we’d be further in the years of our adult life.

I can honestly say Stephen was a great man. Between his loyalty to friendships, his smarts, humor and kindness I don’t know what I’d say was his best trait. This guy the day I met him was in MMA starting off at  Shackleford’s gym and he climbed up on a pole just too spook the instructors and get people to laugh and was always the first one to help anyone this was just who he was. My heart goes out to the family, I’ll miss him very much.

My sincerest condolences.   Praying for all of you without ceasing.  May the Lord draw you near to Him and continue to carry you through the days ahead.  

I would not be the person I am today with out meeting Stephen. He showed me a new way to look at life, a way I had never looked at it before. That you didn't have to live a normal life or be afraid to be different. He was funny, he was caring, and he was bold. One trait that made him really interesting was how smart he was. I have always thought that we would reconnect one day and laugh together again. There is a group of friends who all send their condolences to the family. Prayers of healing are all we can offer but he is in God's hand now. Hopefully we will meet again.
