Stuart was born on November 4, 1943, to the late Frank O’Neil Stevens and Mary Lou Stevens. As the son of a military father, Stuart spent much of his childhood traveling throughout the world before proudly serving in the United States Army himself from January 29, 1962, until January 12, 1965, where he was stationed in Germany.
In 1970, Stuart graduated from Southwestern Bible College in Phoenix, Arizona. On June 19, 1981, he married the love of his life, Linda Cero Stevens. They shared 39 devoted years of marriage before her passing in August of 2020, a loss that deeply impacted him.
Stuart is survived by his sons, Andrew Stevens (Kara) of Southaven, Mississippi, and Adam Stevens (Latham) of Delta Junction, Alaska; and by his grandchildren, Noah (13), Kathlynne (12), and Jill (8), who brought him immense joy and purpose in his later years.
Stuart became a Christian in 1965, and though his faith journey was not without hardship, the Lord remained faithful to pursue him throughout his life. In his later years, those closest to him witnessed a remarkable softening of his heart and a renewed peace that could only come through Christ. His story became one of redemption, grace, and the power of persistent prayer.
Though his family grieves deeply, they do so with the comfort and assurance of the hope found in Christ and the joy of knowing Stuart is now in the presence of his Savior.
Visitation will be held on June 3, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Brantley Funeral Home, with funeral services immediately following at 12:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
