Thelma Ray Bailey, 92, of Independence, passed away Friday, April 8, 2011. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. today, Sunday, April 10, and funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m., all at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Interment will follow in Greenleaf Cemetery in Coldwater. Thelma was a longtime member of Independence United Methodist Church. She dedicated her life to caring for her husband and son. Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Bailey, Sr.; and nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son, Malcolm (Gayle) Bailey, Jr. of Houston, TX; two grandchildren, Aaron Bailey and Alyssa Maness; five great grandchildren, Olivia, Walker, Virginia, Addison, and Luke; and three sisters, Vera Scruggs, Margaret Sowell, and Bobbie Langston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Independence United Methodist Church.
