

Thomas Eugene Curtis, 89, of Olive Branch, MS passed away on August 23, 2022. Tom was the son of Thomas Murphy Curtis and Susie Ann Turner Curtis. His younger life was spent in Itawamba and Lee counties in Mississippi.
He served our country in the United States Army. While in the army, he developed a love of cooking. His army cooking school certificate was displayed in his kitchen. After the army, he used his GI bill to complete bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting at the University of Mississippi. Upon graduation, he accepted a job in New Orleans with Haskins & Sells CPA’s. After a few years in New Orleans, he moved his family back to Lee County and joined M. M. Winkler & Associates CPA’s. He eventually became the managing partner of the firm. He left Winkler to open his own CPA firm in Olive Branch. When he decided to leave public accounting, he joined Sacred Heart Southern Missions, Inc., one of his former clients.
Tom loved the outdoors. His free time was spent gardening, hunting, fishing, and watching football. He was a member of several hunting clubs over the years and loved to cook for his fellow hunters. He made many wonderful friends in these clubs.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Murphy and Susie Curtis. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Debra Curtis of Olive Branch; daughter, Patricia Norton of Olive Branch; son, Tim Curtis (Sandra) of Hernando; grandchildren: Sam Palmer (SoRyoung Lee), Thomas Curtis, and Melissa Curtis Petty (Brad); great-grandchildren: Ashton Palmer and Emma Palmer; sisters, Evelene Wimbs Mimms, and Amy Earlene Grohs Stroschein; and one brother, Glen Curtis (Christina Pavelock).
Tom was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
