

Tommy Eugene Hopkins, Sr., 91, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 surrounded by his family in Olive Branch, Ms. He was born on June 15, 1933, in Nashville, TN. His parents were Thomas and Louisa Hopkins. Tommy proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, honoring his country with commitment and bravery. In October of 1955, he married the love of his life, Sylvia Hopkins, and together they shared 69 joyful years.
For over 25 years, Tommy worked as a truck driver, a career he dedicated himself to before retiring. In his free time, he loved fishing with his brothers and taking pride in maintaining a beautiful yard—those who knew him understood how important it was for Tommy to keep his yard pristine.
A devoted member of First Global Methodist Church, Tommy found fulfillment in serving the Lord. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Known for his peaceful nature, Tommy will be remembered for his kindness, faith, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Louisa Hopkins, and two brothers, John Hopkins and Bobby Hopkins.
Tommy leaves behind his loving wife, Sylvia Hopkins; two children, Elizabeth Hopkins (Mike Roach), and Tommy Hopkins, Jr. (Jodie), and two siblings, Billy Hopkins (Pat), and Evylou Turner.
He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Tyler Hopkins (Brey), Justin Hopkins (Kaitlyn), and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to First Global Methodist Church, “Building Fund,” P.O. Box 51 Olive Branch, Ms 38654.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, Ms. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 10:00 am at First Global Methodist Church, 3945 Hwy 305, Hernando, Ms. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, TN.
