Vicki was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Durward Brown; her son, J.D Brown, her parents, James and Mildred Spires; and her sisters, Nina Hall and Floella Jett.
She is lovingly survived by her children: Diane (Jackey), Kenneth (Linda), and Keith (Jill); her grandchildren: James (Kristy), Lydia (Tom), Katherine (Taylor), Patricia (Kenny), Janine (Darrell), and Kevin; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved and as her own children.
A faithful and devoted member of Meadow Brooke Baptist Church, Vicki’s faith guided her life and shaped the love she poured into everyone around her. She worked more than 30 years with the United States Postal Service and owned and operated the Yarn Barn during the mid-1980s, a reflection of her creative spirit and entrepreneurial heart.
Vicki was talented in all things involving a needle and thread, or a needle and yarn. She found joy in quilting, lovingly piecing together keepsakes filled with memories and meaning. She loved gardening, canning vegetables from her harvest, and spending treasured time with her grandchildren.
She enjoyed cooking (though she freely admitted she wasn’t a fan of doing the dishes). Known for having no filter, Vicki always spoke her mind, you never had to guess what she was thinking. In her later years, she especially enjoyed reading her Bible and settling in with a good love story. Quick-witted and sharp, she kept everyone on their toes and laughing.
This remarkable woman left an indelible mark on her family, her church, and her community. Her life was filled with love, laughter, kindness, and faith, and her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
