Carol A. (Warner) Burhenne passed away on March 6, 2026. Carol was born January 1, 1934 to Carl and Magdalena (Steppuhn) Warner in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1951 and married Elmer Burhenne on November 16, 1952. She worked in steno at Mutual of Omaha in the 1950's, and then she and Elmer ran Westside Garage Inc. from 1958 to 1996. Carol volunteered with her church and was active with the Independent Order of Foresters and The Compassionate Friends. Biking, camping,sewing and working crossword puzzles were some of her favorite activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard, son Steve, husband Elmer, sister Rosemary Smith, and other relatives and friends. She is survived by her daughter Sherrie Best, son-in-law Andrew Best, nieces,nephews, cousins, and friends. Carol will be greatly missed.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 15 from 3pm - 6pm. Funeral Service will take place on Monday, March 16 at 11am. Both at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home at 5701 Center St., Omaha.
Carol's favorite charities for memorials are Nebraska Humane Society, The Compassionate Friends or Historical Society of Pottawattamie County.
