

A long time teacher who retired from OPS and Grace University, went home to be with her Lord on April 7, 2015.
Doris was born on Sept. 5, 1930 in Shelby, NE to Harold and Mae Schmid Fyfe. She took Normal Training and graduated from Shelby High School in 1947. She began teaching in a country school at age 16 and spent over 60 years in education in schools in Nebraska and Wyoming. She taught short term mission trips in Ukraine in 1994 and 1995 and also directed Midway Bible Camp in Manitoba, Canada for 20 summers. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Peru State Teacher’s College and Master’s Degree from University of Nebraska, Omaha (UNO). She loved children and was always involved in her church teaching S.S., serving as S.S. Supt. over 40 years, helping with Awana or Kid’s Club and serving on various committees.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mae Fyfe, one brother, Bill Fyfe, two sisters, Betty Hohndorf and Mary Lou Rudolph and stillborn twin brothers.
Survived by two sisters, Shirley Fyfe Johnson of Central City, NE and Carol Fyfe Goranson, Scottsbluff, NE, a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.
Visitation Sunday from 6:00-8:00PM at Crosby Colonial Chapel.
Funeral Service Monday, 10:30AM at Harvey Oaks Baptist Church, 14515 Harvey Oaks Ave., Omaha.
Interment at Graceland Cemetery, Shelby, NE.
Memorials may be made to Harvey Oaks Baptist church elevator fund or Continental Mission, Thompson, Manitoba, Canada.
