Jay Brian Qualheim, born December 5, 1960, in Denison, Iowa, entered this world as a beloved son to Howard and Phyllis (Rice) Qualheim. He passed away on December 11, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and family that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Jay was baptized and later confirmed at St. Rose of Lima in Denison. He married Becky Dozark, and together they welcomed two children, Cassandra and Cole. In time, Jay found his soulmate Nancy Glau, the love of his life. With her, he built a beautiful and enduring partnership and completed his family with two more children, Evan and Karlee.
Jay’s pride in his family was evident to all who knew him, and his role as a father and grandfather was one he cherished deeply. He also valued his work family. Jay could always be counted on to tackle the tough “stuff” at work. No machine ever scared him.
Jay will be remembered for his quick one-liners, his love for a good garage party, an incredible passion for music, beautiful dimples, his work ethic, and the love he had for his kids and grandkids.
Jay is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Phyllis, his sister Helen “Tina” (Qualheim) Dreesen, and his wife Nancy.
Those continuing to live on with Jay’s memories include his four children: Cassandra (Nick) Bradley, Cole (Alissa) Qualheim, Evan (Casey) Qualheim, and Karlee (Jason) Bladt, six grandchildren Jayden, Isabel, Cora, Jaq, Cam, and Betty, his siblings Roxy, Claire, Jeff, and Quenton, and other friends and family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
