Marcella "Marcy" V. Hoffman

Marcy was the oldest of 5 children born to William and Vlasta Karel. She grew up on a farm until her family moved to Omaha where she went to high school and nursing school. She loved her time as a Registered Nurse at Methodist Hospital. She took great pride in her blue wool cape, her white nurse's uniform, white nurse's cap, and her white stockings and shoes!

Marcy married Lester Hoffman and they were together 54 years. They had 4 beautiful children who had successful careers in nursing, education, equine medicine, and the food industry.

Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling, gardening, baking, and attending family events. Polka music was a constant in her life and could usually be heard playing every Sunday. Fall Saturdays would find her watching a Nebraska football game with her husband or another family member.

In her last years she lived a full life at Brookestone Village. The daily activities, crafts, and exercise classes kept her busy. While she enjoyed the bingo and balloon volleyball games, her passion was the beautiful flower bouquets she would arrange each week to brighten her room.

Marcy will also be remembered for all those puzzle books and computer games she loved to play. Arizona Rummy, played with family and friends, was a special treat for her.

Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, we will always carry your memory in our hearts.

Marcella was preceded in death by husband, Lester G. Hoffman.

She is survived by children, Denise (John) Green, Sandra Hoffman, Kurt (Melissa) Hoffman, and Karen (Mark) Mitchell; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marcella V. Hoffman Scholarship at Nebraska Methodist Hospital (8701 West Dodge Rd. Ste. 450 Omaha, NE 68114).

Private service will be held for the family only.
