She died peacefully at her home in Autumn Pointe Assisted Living in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska on May 20, 2026.
Margery is survived by her brothers Pete Clapp and Jack (and Judy) Clapp, sister Debbie (and Paul) Nancarrow, her daughter Heidi (and Randy) Sell, her son Michael (and Juli) Loftis, as well as seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Margery, always ready for the next grand adventure, expressed curiosity about what comes next and her readiness to join her son, Jay Loftis, who preceded her in death.
In Margery’s career as a Labor and Delivery Nurse, she coached approximately 6,000 mothers through birthing their babies. She was an artist who drew and lettered ads for the Yellow Pages in the days before computers. She studied Therapeutic Touch and earned certification as a hypnotherapist helping her obstetric patients and numerous clients in private practice. She loved dancing, hiking in the woods, or walking on a beach. Adored an ice cream cone. Margery was always reading—for pleasure or purpose—and instilled the love of learning in her children.
We will celebrate Margery’s life at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30th, 2026, at Saint Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 285 S. 208th Street, Elkhorn, Nebraska.
Memorials suggested to Friends of Heron Haven or Magdalene House.
