Mark was born October 6, 1962 to Marie T. (Belina) Clarke (later Marie T. Wolkow) and William D. Clarke. Marie later married Richard Wolkow, who was a father figure to Mark. He was also raised by his grandmother Belina. He had one sister, Mary T. Clarke, who was born in 1956 and died May 10, 2024. Mark attended and graduated from Benson High School.
After high school Mark lived in Omaha with his mother and stepfather and worked at a local restaurant, then later at the Maple Crest nursing home, where he worked as a dishwasher.
After his mother died Mark moved to an apartment near 90th and Blondo and he continued working at Maple Crest. It wasn’t an easy transition for Mark, but he took pride in his work and he enjoyed using the bus to get to and from Maple Crest. He would often go on long walks in the neighborhood, befriending people along the way. The staff at Godfather’s Pizza knew him well and often set aside a pizza that they couldn’t sell and give to him for free.
Mark grew up following the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team and as an adult he enjoyed annual trips to Lincoln to see the Spring Game.
After a series of injuries due to falls, Mark could no longer keep his job and he could not remain living independently. He missed work and he missed walking the neighborhood.
In 2018 Mark qualified for an Extended Family Home and he moved in with Lavette Robinson. Here he thrived and enjoyed being back in a family environment. Most of his days were spent participating in group vocational activities with Integrated Life Choices. He remained in Lavette’s care, in her home, until he passed away December 9, 2025.
Mark loved good food, friends who he would frequently call and the Cornhuskers. He was a good friend and will be missed by many.
