

Mark Spencer Swanson, 61, of Findlay, Ohio, went to be with his heavenly Father on September 30 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mark was born September 19, 1950, in Burlington, Iowa, to Mayme Elaine Fletcher Swanson and Richard Knight Swanson.
Mark graduated from Westside High School in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1968. He entered the United States Army in October of 1968. His service to his country included a tour of duty in Vietnam as an aircraft mechanic. Mark received an honorable discharge in August of 1971.
Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the Creighton University School of Pharmacy, Omaha, Nebraska, in 1977. He earned a Masters degree in Biomedicinal Chemistry in 1979, then a Ph.D. in Biochemical Pharmacology/Toxicology in 1983 from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Mark was a postdoctoral fellow at the Argonne National Laboratory, Biological and Medical Research Division in Argonne, Illinois, from 1983-1985. He was a board certified toxicologist through the American Board of Toxicology.
Mark worked in the petroleum/chemical industries for over 25 years. He most recently worked for Marathon Petroleum Company in Findlay, Ohio, as Manager of Toxicology and Safety.
Mark was united in marriage to Susan Kay Swanson in Omaha on March 28, 1981. To this union were born two sons, Daniel and Benjamin.
Mark is survived by his wife of 30 years, Susan, of Findlay, Ohio; sons Daniel and Ben of Findlay; mother Elaine Swanson of Omaha, Nebraska; brother Scott and wife Linda of Omaha; brother Greg and wife Maria of Asbury, Kentucky; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father.
No Visitation. Memorial Service Monday 11:00AM at Christ Community Church, 404 S. 108th Ave. Omaha, NE. Private Interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
