She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Sams-Stroble and Rose Aker, her son, Robert Monico, 11 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Nancy was born in Nebraska City, NE on November 6, 1939. She was one of 10 children. Nancy was adopted as a child by Dorothy and Harry Watts and grew up with them and a sister, Barbara, in Omaha, NE. She attended Central High School in Omaha. Nancy lived in Omaha for many years before relocating to Missouri and living in Plattsburg, Missouri where her children were raised.
Nancy was very artistic and enjoyed woodworking, sewing, stained glass, collecting and trying new recipes, and most recently, building and painting birdhouses with her late daughter, Julie. Nancy was also very interested in genealogy and spent countless hours tracking her family origins and stories.
Nancy was affectionately called Grandma Blueberry by some of her grandchildren and always had a spunky and passionate approach to life. She loved gossiping with her neighbors, watching the birds out her window, and smelling fresh flowers. She drew children's books for her grandchildren, loved looking for fairies under the small flowers on her walks, and snuggling with Bear and Tiger, her daughter Julie’s two dogs.
Nancy will be laid to rest in Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park on February 21st, 2025.
