The fourth of five daughters, Nancy grew up in St. Joseph, Missouri and graduated mid-term from Lafayette High School in 1959. While still in high school, Nancy’s brother-in-law Stanley Moore introduced her to his friend and fellow National Guard, Roger Paige. Roger and Nancy fell in love and were married on February 14th, 1959. To them were born three children; Kandi, Kelly and Adam.
In 1969, Roger’s job with the Union Pacific Railroad transferred the family from Missouri to Omaha, Nebraska. Roger and Nancy raised their family in Omaha for the next 20 years until Roger’s sudden death in 1990.
A few years later, Nancy’s church received news that former church member and friend Barbara Bell had passed away in California where she and her husband David had relocated years before. Nancy sent a card and letter to David offering her condolences and informing him of Roger’s death. From this initial contact, David and Nancy started to support each other’s grieving through letters and phone conversations. It was not long before they fell in love and David proposed.
On June 25th, 1994, David and Nancy would move to Tulsa, Oklahoma and Topeka, Kansas before eventually retiring to Omaha.
Nancy was a homemaker and loved to cook and sew (and was very good at both). She was a member of Happy Faces singing group here in Omaha. She and David attended Westwood Church here in Omaha where they made many friends. They were grateful for the live-streamed services when Nancy’s health eventually prevented them from attending services personally. Nancy enjoyed playing card games, watching Jeopardy and CourtTV, shopping and music but nothing brought her greater joy than her grandchildren.
Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Paige; parents, Cecil and Jessie (Lawrence) Benson; sisters, Diane Metzinger, Katy Moore-O’Dowd; brothers-in-law, Dale Robbins, Stanley Moore, Louie Hendrix; and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Paige.
