Shari was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Aken II, and her parents, Ed and June Elder. She is survived by her sisters Denise (Jim) Adrian and Peggy Wagner; step-children Don (Becki) Aken III, Cindy (Ray) Smith, and Steve (Michaela) Aken; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
Shari worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 37 years, where she made lasting friendships and was known for her reliability and dedication. Alongside her husband Don, she shared a lifelong passion for antiques. Together they owned Mission Ave Antiques and ran the popular flea markets at the Fireman’s Union Hall for many years. The two could often be found “garage saling” and visiting flea markets across the Midwest, always on the hunt for hidden treasures.
Beyond her love of antiques, Shari was deeply devoted to genealogy, tracing family histories—both her own and for others—with care and curiosity. She adored her cats and found her greatest joy in time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Known for her generous heart, Shari would help anyone in need and always gave more than she received.
Shari will be deeply missed by all who knew her for her warmth, humor, and selfless spirit.
