Yvonne Marie Ware, age 68, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. Yvonne, known to her family and friends as "Von," was born October 29, 1955 in Akron, Ohio to her Mother, Josephine Twitty and her Father, David Ware who are now resting in Paradise.
We are going to take a brief trip down memory lane of Von's precious life. She attended Crouse Elementary, West Junior High, and South High School better known as "Big Blue." Graduating in 1974, she was awarded the Fastest Typist in the Schools History and the superlatives "Most Talkative." This Woman knew she could talk, and she never met a stranger; she was a people lover. Von loved a good meal and her eyes were always bigger than her stomach. She planned all the family meals (for anyone else to cook, of course, because a cook she was not) and would invite all of her friends over to eat.
Von moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1978 accepting a job with the Omaha Police Department as a dispatching operator.
When Von came home to visit, it was always a good time of laughs and enjoying one another with a few of her dear friends whom she has known for many years, including Nelson Mariner, Beverly Woolridge, Dino Culver, and Kim Carter amongst many others. She also loved to play spades, and if you were her partner, you better play your best hand because she would get mad if she lost. She loved her sports; please don't call her or disturb her while she was watching a game... She would either 1) not answer her phone or 2) cuss you out if she did. She also loved playing Bingo.
Von accepted Christ at an early age, attending First Apostolic and then People's Baptist Church under the direction of Dr. George W. Goodman, where she was the church clerk before she left for Omaha. She then joined King Solomon Baptist Church under the direction of Pastor Wagstaff. She was the church clerk there also, and she served on the usher board. She became friends with many here in Omaha as her journey continued. Some of her close one's were Gwen Vinson and her husband, William (she always referred to Gwen as her "Angel"); Tony InFantino, whom she relied upon for numerous reasons; and Theresa Dunson, also known as "Porky."
We had a very small but close-knit family whom she leaves behind to continue to celebrate her fond memories of her life that was here on earth. Von is survived by her two sisters, Lisa Twitty of Columbus, Ohio, and Karen Twitty Ellis of Fairlawn, Ohio; niece, Tiffany Rowland of Fairlawn, Ohio; nephew, Donte' Mills (Kayla) of Copley, Ohio, whom she treated as her own; great-niece, Khloe; great-nephew Mateo; God-daughter, Candace McMiller Hilton of Akron, Ohio; and many other close friends and relatives.
A big "Thank You" to Azria Nursing Home, Endless Journey Hospice Care Facility, and the services who were entrusted to Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home.
A visitation for Yvonne will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. The funeral service will be live streamed via westlawnhillcrest.com
