Beverly Ritter Lapp

She was born on October 31, 1930 in Amsterdam, the daughter of Donald W. and Birdella (Eckerson) Bowmaker. Beverly resided in Oneonta, and was a former long-time resident of Boyertown, PA.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years, R. Ray Ritter; her daughter, Candace Jean Ritter-Ansel; daughter in law, Emma Ritter; her sister Eleanor; and her second husband of 14 years, Alfred Lapp.

Beverly is survived by her loving family, sons Donald R. Ritter and his wife, Bonnie of Boyertown, PA, and Ronald A. Ritter of Oneonta. She is also survived by two lovely granddaughters, Holly (Ritter) and John Keebler, Jr, and Rachel (Ritter) and Brian Murphy; her awesome grandson, William Ansel; and was a proud great grandma, “GG”, to Ella and Ava Keebler.

Bev gives thanks to God for her family and friends. She was an active church choir member all her life and was also a Deacon in the Lutheran Church. She was chairperson of the Worship & Music Committee, President of the “Martha Circle”, and actively involved in St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Laurens and the Community of St. Francis, West Laurens. She worked with youth in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, was a youth advisor, Girl Scout Leader, and also a Cub Scout Den Mother. She also was a member of the YMCA Board of Managers, School Board Director (Boyertown, PA), and enjoyed it all. In Oneonta, Bev served on the Senior Council of Otsego County, was on the Board of Directors of the local AARP Chapter, and was Secretary Treasurer of Laurens Golden Agers.

Bev loved to bike, walk, and was an avid reader. According to her family, she made the best chicken and dumplings.

A service of Holy Communion will take place on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 11 am at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 125 Co Rd 11, Laurens, NY 13796, with Rev. Paul Messner officiating.

Burial will take place at a later date in Sharon Springs.

In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
