

She was born on December 22, 1930 in Franklin, the daughter of the late Edward and Daisy (Marshall) Hotaling. On October 16, 1948 Charlotte married Melvin George Burgher. He predeceased her in February 2000.
A seamstress by trade, Charlotte loved to create beautiful things to share with everyone around her, and enjoyed crafting projects with her grandchildren. She was a seamstress for the Oneonta Dress Company for many years. After leaving the dress company, she went onto work for the Otsego ARC. She was very strong in her faith, attending church at the Salvation Army of Oneonta when she could.
Charlotte is survived by her children, Carol (John) Sullivan of Herkimer, Cindy (Richard) Carpenter of Harpursville, Bonnie (Mike) Armstrong of Kentucky, Patsy Hopkins of Afton, and James (Cindy) Burgher of Jordanville; her sister, Leone (Ralph) Barlow of Treadwell; and several grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son, Lawrence Melvin Burgher, and her daughter, Sandy Burgher.
Calling hours will be from Noon to 1pm on Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home, with Major James Smith of the Oneonta Salvation Army officiating. Interment will take place later in the spring at the convenience of the family.
